Gerard Farreras, born in Barcelona, made his professional debut at the Verdi Festival in Parma, and his career has since taken him to major opera houses across Europe, including the Staatsoper Berlin, Teatro Real, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Stuttgart, and Gran Teatre del Liceu, among others.
His upcoming engagements include Zio Bonzo in Madama Butterfly at the Staatsoper Berlin, Ashby in La Fanciulla del West at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Rocco in Fidelio, Abimélech in Samson et Dalila, and Samuel in Un ballo in maschera at the Staatstheater Schwerin.
Farreras has built a broad repertoire encompassing key bass roles such as Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Timur (Turandot), Colline (La Bohème), Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Angelotti (Tosca), Zúñiga (Carmen), and Bonzo (Madama Butterfly), among others. His voice is noted for its commanding presence as well as its flexibility, allowing him to navigate a wide stylistic range with both authority and nuance.
A prizewinner at several international competitions, including the Tenor Viñas Competition and Voci Verdiane Città di Busseto, Gerard Farreras has been a member of the ensemble at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and of the opera studios of the Staatsoper Stuttgart and Opernstudio NRW. Gerard Farreras continues to establish himself as a compelling presence on the European operatic stage.
