Gerard Farreras was born in Monistrol de Montserrat, Barcelona, and made his professional debut at the Verdi Festival in Parma.
He was a member of the ensemble at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he appeared as Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Timur (Turandot), Colline (La Bohème), and Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia).
Previously, he was a member of the Opernstudio of the Staatsoper Stuttgart, performing roles including Sarastro and Sprecher (Die Zauberflöte), Angelotti (Tosca), Bonzo (Madama Butterfly), Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Nikitich (Boris Godunov), Farfarello and the cook (The Love for Three Oranges), and Zúñiga (Carmen).
He is the recipient of six special prizes at international competitions, including the Tenor Viñas Competition and Voci Verdiane Città di Busseto.
Highlights of his career include appearances in Madama Butterfly (Staatsoper Unter den Linden), La traviata (Barcelona), Anna Bolena (Valencia), The Nose (Madrid), Otello (Pamplona), Tosca (Oviedo), Die Zauberflöte (Peralada Festival), La Tabernera del Puerto (Lima), La Bohème (AAOS), and Verdi’s Messa da Requiem at the Berlin Philharmonie and Pamplona, among others
